In the realm of music production, where creativity meets innovation, individuals like Oseh Peter Taiye, better known as SPT, are carving out their own unique paths. Hailing from Abuja, Nigeria, SPT’s journey into the world of music creation began humbly, as a church singer and guitarist. However, the onset of the pandemic in 2020 forced a shift in his musical trajectory, leading him to explore the intricate art of sample making with FL Studio. Now, as one of the leading creators of sample packs on WAVS.com, SPT’s contributions are shaping the soundscapes of today and inspiring producers worldwide.

1. Who is SPT? What’s your story?

“My name is Oseh Peter Taiye, and I’m Nigerian. I started off as a church singer/guitarist. In 2020, when the pandemic hit and I could no longer play music in church, I started learning to create with FL Studio. I was introduced to sample making by my friend Veshbeats. I’ve been making samples by myself since late 2020.”

2. What does your creative process look like, and are there any notable tips in terms of your process and your mindset that you can single out as super integral to what you’re doing?

“My creative process is quite arbitrary; I could be inspired by a song I heard earlier or a drum loop I’ve just heard. I usually start most projects with my guitar since it’s the instrument I’m most comfortable with. In terms of mindset, I like to think in terms of volume—the more stuff I make, the easier it is to become better and more creative.”

3. What is your routine in regards to making packs for WAVS, and are there any notable placements that you’ve gotten from being on WAVS?

“I think a lot about the quality of samples that are available on WAVS, and I try to focus more on improving my quality to meet the standard there. I make at least 3 packs monthly, and since I’ve been consistent, I have over 150 pack releases and 1800+ samples. My dedication to consistently delivering quality has helped me become the best-selling producer on WAVS.”

4. What are some of your favorite plug-ins or pieces of equipment? Do you use a lot of analog stuff and real instruments?

“Some of my favorite plugins include Lounge Lizard (I enjoy the relaxing sounds from any electric piano), Purity, and Trillian. I like to process guitars and other elements with Guitar Rig.”

5. What is your most integral tip, plug-in, or tool in general that you feel would instantly improve an up-and-coming producer’s sound?

“I think collaboration with other producers has helped broaden my scope as a musician. I often create with producers like Danny Dre and Veshbeats (amongst others). I spend a lot of my time listening to other producers (both on WAVS and other platforms). This helps keep me fresh, always learning, and never out of ideas.”

6. What’s next in store for SPT? What are your plans, and how’s your future on WAVS going to look like?

“I’m looking out to collaborating with other producers across genres. I’m genuinely impressed with the quality on WAVS.com, so I’ll be more focused on delivering quality. Despite being the best-selling producer on WAVS, I haven’t exactly landed any major placements, and so I’m looking to pander more to artists across genres and then see how far that goes.”

With over 150 pack releases and 1800+ samples under his belt, he is not only shaping the sound of today but also influencing the music of tomorrow. And with WAVS.com as his platform, the journey ahead holds endless possibilities.
