Matt Miggz watched Drumline with his mom in third grade, walked out of the theater begging for drum lessons, and never really stopped. That was the beginning. The rest has been, by his own description, a constant push and pull between self-awareness and delusion — band projects, solo production, jumping on the mic, learning every side of the industry the hard way when his duo Yes Please ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What came out the other side is a producer with a very specific skill: he knows how to make drums feel right. Not just technically right — emotionally right. The kind that make a face scrunch and something else move at the same time. His Drums! series on WAVS has built a following around exactly that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We talked with Matt about where that ear for rhythm comes from, how losing Yes Please changed how he works, and what he actually means when he says delusion is part of the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
