Nico started out sampling Spanish folk and 70s soul records for a YouTube beat channel. He got bored making just drums and wanted to go deeper into melody. Two years ago he applied to post samples on WAVS. His first pack did decent. Then one day people started reaching out to work with his music, the placements followed, and he got addicted to improving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s the short version. Under the name BSIDES, he’s since placed with YK Osiris, Lil Bean, Chikoruss, and SAHXL — across a catalog that spans smooth R&B, Memphis, experimental house, and UK garage without feeling scattered. He’s based in Frankfurt, and when asked if German music influenced his sound, his answer was direct: his goal was to not sound like it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We talked with BSIDES about what drives his process, how he thinks about genre, and what getting that first placement actually changed for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: You\u2019ve built a solid reputation on WAVS as a Top 50 seller, consistently delivering high-quality packs. Can you tell us who BSIDES is and when did you first realize you had a knack for creating samples that could resonate with the world\u2019s largest producers and artists?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

BSIDES:<\/strong> I am a student and sample maker from Frankfurt, Germany<\/a><\/span> mostly focusing on RnB\/HipHop but im open to exploring any genre. My catalog on WAVS<\/a><\/span> shows that, as I have made samples in the style of smooth RnB, Aggressive hood stuff, Memphis, Pop, Experimental, House and even some UK Garage. I first started out making beats, sampling all types of songs off of YouTube ranging from spanish folk to 70s soul trying to build my own YouTube Channel. But I started to get bored with \u201ejust\u201c making drums very quickly and wanted to explore the melodic part of music. About two years ago I decided to apply as a creator on WAVS to share my own melodies. The first release back then \u201eCycles<\/a><\/span>” worked out pretty decent. From one day to another, suddenly I started getting recognized by people that wanted to work with my music. It took just a couple months until I got my first placement and after that I was addicted to not only getting better everyday but also seriously trying to pursuea potential profession in music.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
