WAVS Producer Directory: A New Way To Discover Great Samples

We’ve just launched the new WAVS Producer Directory. It’s a searchable index of over 100 music producers who’ve shaped the sound of modern music, complete with curated WAVS playlists in the style of the artists you’re exploring.

Browse it at wavs.com/producer-directory.

WAVS Producer Directory

There’s over 150,000 samples in the WAVS directory, spread out across dozens of subgenres. That’s why our users need a fast, easy way to find the specific sound they’re looking for. Sometimes sample filters like genre and mood aren’t enough.

We’ve launched a new directory that allows visitors to search by artist. Each page includes a bio, interviews, links to their socials, and a WAVS sample playlist featuring sounds inspired by them. You can still narrow the playlists down by BPM, key, instrument, mood, and genre. The difference is that now you’re combing through music inspired by just one producer, which can help narrow down the overall style in an interesting way.

The current directory covers 109 producers across styles ranging from Golden Era boom bap (J Dilla, Pete Rock, DJ Premier) to hard trap (Metro Boomin, Tay Keith, Southside), experimental left-field production (Madlib, Clams Casino, Knxwledge), and pop crossover work (Max Martin, Jack Antonoff, Finneas).

How to find WAVS samples in the directory

Producer Directory Page

Arrow through the directory with your keyboard until a producer catches your eye. The WAVS sample playlists live below the bio under WAVS Catalog. Hit the browse samples button to pull up the full playlist.

Worth noting: none of the samples are actually made by the producer. They’re tagged by our creators as sources of inspiration at the time of upload. We built the directory to make those connections visible, because otherwise those tagged relationships would only surface through search queries. The directory turns them into something you can actually browse and explore.

The index only includes producers who already appear in our metadata, which keeps the playlists authentic. If you’re a producer who wants to be listed, there’s a submission form at the bottom of the page.
