Your free trial at WAVS includes full access to our catalog and five free credits, so you can download samples, MIDI files, and presets from our collection. During the trial, you’ll be able to download and use our WAVS desktop app with the DAW bridge. That means you can sync sample playback with your DAW, automatically tempo-stretching and key-transposing audio to match your current project.
Almost half of our samples are royalty free, meaning you’ll never be obligated to pay the creator if your song blows up. However, we do offer sample creators the option to assign royalty terms when they upload them. This incentivizes our top creators to upload their premium samples, that they otherwise don’t upload to royalty-free platforms like Splice. You can find these royalty tiers displayed transparently on the Explore tab, while you’re browsing and auditioning beats. You don’t have to pay royalties until a song hits 1M views or is released by a major label.
WAVS is accessible in three formats; web browser, VST plugin and standalone desktop app. Of those three options, our standalone app is considered the best choice. Producers can load the WAVS DAW bridge and pull BPM + playhead position directly from their workstation. Sample playback adapts in real time to match your project. You can download the standalone app here, but please note that you’ll need an active subscription to use it.
Yes, WAVS subscribers have the option to purchase additional download credits ala cart. If you run out before the end of your monthly cycle, simply click the purple “Add credits” button shown on your top menu or in the account dashboard.
Yes, any credits you’ve purchased previously will roll over and be retained on your account for as long as you maintain an active subscription.
WAVS was founded by and for musicians, so generative AI is not something we’re actively pursuing at this time. Our submission guidelines explicitly ask creators not to upload genAI music or samples. We don’t have any beef with AI music companies, but we do believe that humans create the highest quality music and we want to hold that standard at WAVS. That being said, we do offer an AI sample finder that subscribers can upload samples to. The algorithm will study your reference audio and retrieve similar samples from our catalog.
If a sample has royalty terms, you can clear the sample automatically by registering your track with us or you can request custom terms through a form to contact the creator. When your song hits a million streams or is released by a major label. Generate a license using our standard terms or request your own custom terms.
