FLEX is Image-Line's free preset-based instrument, introduced with FL Studio 20.5 in 2019 and included in every FL Studio edition. Its engine combines subtractive, wavetable, multisample and FM synthesis, but the design intent is that you load a preset and shape it with eight macro knobs rather than build a patch from oscillators up. Content arrives as genre-specific packs, including Moon Dust for hip hop, Hard 808s, and the Colors pluggnb and R&B pack, sold at 14.95 each or bundled into the FL Cloud Pro subscription. Image-Line rebuilt the engine to load faster and use up to 50 percent less CPU, and added a redesigned browser. Its reputation is as the fastest way to get a usable, production-ready sound in FL Studio, which is precisely why it is a fixture in plugg and melodic trap workflows. It is not a deep sound-design tool, and experienced producers treat it as a sketchpad rather than a synth to program.
Source Image-Line's own FL Studio artist interview pages quote both by name on FLEX. Larry Ohh: "I love using Gross Beat, as well as Patcher for mixing and instrument plug-ins, and especially the FLEX plugin for instruments." Murphy Kid: "Don't be afraid to use FL Studio's stock plugins. The Parametric EQ 2, Fruity Reverb 2, FLEX, and Sytrus are some that I tend to use the most."
Presets from WAVS creators for the instruments FLEX covers, cleared for commercial use.

FLEX is the exception among Image-Line's stock plugins: it ships as a free standalone VST3/AU that runs in other DAWs.
