About

iZotope's assistive mixing suite: ten modules, a Mix Assistant that proposes a starting balance, and a Masking Meter that shows where two tracks are fighting. iZotope frames it as professional results on tight timelines rather than as a character processor.

Signature Sound
Transparent rather than characterful; the value is the assistant and the masking meter finding what to move. Reached for getting a crowded beat bus balanced quickly.

Source iZotope's own published interview with Grammy-winning mix engineer Jimmy Douglass. Asked whether he used Neutron on JAY-Z's 4:44, he answers "I use Neutron all the time," describes using the Masking Meter and the EQ while mixing the record, and adds "I love Neutron's Track Assistant." iZotope's Music Production Suite page separately carries the only other named Neutron quote, from Michael Kamerman of Smallpools.

AI features
The Assistant listens to a few seconds of the track and configures Neutron's modules - EQ curves, compression, transient shaping - as an editable starting point; the Phase module's Learn function analyses and corrects phase relationships automatically, and Audiolens lets you profile an external reference track and target its tonal balance.

$299 is the base full version. The $199 tiers are upgrades and crossgrades that require you already own a qualifying iZotope product; $245 upgrades from Elements. Price checked 10 September 2026. macOS Sonoma 14.7, Sequoia 15.7 and Tahoe 26.2, Intel and Apple Silicon M-series, native and Rosetta. Windows 10 and 11. All formats 64-bit only. CPU load and learning curve summarise published reviews and user forums, not our own testing.
