SubLab plugin interface, Future Audio Workshop
About

SubLab is a sub-bass and 808 synthesizer from Future Audio Workshop, released in 2019 for hip-hop, trap and electronic producers. Mechanically it layers three sources: a sample engine for kick and 808 one-shots, a subtractive synth voice, and a proprietary X-Sub oscillator the developer designed to hold a consistent, felt sub-bass across small and large playback systems. It auto-detects the pitch of imported samples, which streamlines building chromatic 808 lines. It ships with roughly 250 samples recorded from machines including the TR-808, MFB-522 and Dave Smith Tempest, plus six signature bass packs. It came to matter because it packaged 808 design, distortion and mix-safe low end into one focused tool at a time when producers were layering several plugins to get there. Its reputation among trap producers is strong, though some users note you must choose between oscillator sources rather than freely blend their volumes.

Signature Sound
Deep, felt, hard-hitting sub-bass and knocking 808s that translate on phones and club systems alike. Reached when a beat needs a sustained 808 with controllable distortion.

Source Richie Souf, DECAP and Sean Divine are named by Future Audio Workshop as official collaborators who built signature 808 packs for SubLab, and Richie Souf Signature Subs and Sean Divine Bass ship as factory content. This is a collaboration credit on the developer's own site, not a first-person testimonial. FAW notes Richie Souf made these 808s after producing Playboi Carti's Whole Lotta Red; that is a temporal association rather than a claim that SubLab was used on the record. Future Audio Workshop's own SubLab patch-pack index credits each producer as author of an official signature pack for the ORIGINAL SubLab (not just SubLab XL): Richie Souf (Playboi Carti, Whole Lotta Red) "Red Edition" and "Vol. 2", DECAP "808s That Knock" ("you've definitely heard his iconic Drums That Knock on songs by JAY-Z, Nicki Minaj, Niall Horan"), Sean Divine "Divine Bass II". Named creative credits from the developer, not testimonial quotes.
