CuBeatz is a German production and songwriting duo consisting of twin brothers Kevin and Tim Gomringer, born March 15, 1991, in Sindelfingen, Baden-Wurttemberg. They grew up in the nearby village of Hildrizhausen and began making beats using Cubase, which inspired their stage name. Both completed apprenticeships as merchants in wholesale and foreign trade before studying music at a private university in Stuttgart. Their first record came in 2008 with German rapper Vega, followed by placements with Fard, PA Sports, and Haftbefehl.
Their U.S. breakthrough arrived in 2015 when a composition reached producer Vinylz and became "R.I.C.O." by Meek Mill featuring Drake. That placement connected them with Cardo and opened doors to Metro Boomin, Boi-1da, Tay Keith, and Murda Beatz. In 2016, they co-produced Drake's "Summer Sixteen," ScHoolboy Q's "THat Part" with Kanye West, and 21 Savage's "No Heart." In 2018, they co-produced Travis Scott's "Sicko Mode," which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. They won a Grammy in 2019 for Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy.
CuBeatz operate primarily as loop and melody composers, creating original compositions that other producers sample into finished beats. They transitioned away from using unlicensed samples early in their career and now play all melodies themselves. Pitchfork described their work as "moody melodies with layers of effects." They are notably private, giving almost no interviews and maintaining a low social media presence despite 10 Grammy nominations.
Signature Sound
CuBeatz specialize in crafting atmospheric, effects-laden melodic loops designed to be sampled by other producers. Their compositions blend cinematic textures with trap-ready structures, featuring layered synths, processed piano lines, and moody harmonic progressions that have become foundational to the modern loop economy in hip-hop production.
