Frank Dukes is the production alias of Adam King Feeney, born September 12, 1983, in Toronto, Ontario. He took piano lessons from age five, later adding guitar and drums. As a teenager, he collected 1960s and 1970s records, bought an Akai MPC, and got into hip-hop DJing. His stage name comes from Frank Dux in the 1988 film Bloodsport. His first placement was a 2003 remix for Philadelphia rapper Hezekiah, and he produced "Money" on Drake's 2006 debut mixtape Room for Improvement, making him one of the first producers to work with Drake.
In 2011, Feeney founded the Kingsway Music Library, a collection of original, clearance-free sample packs performed by himself and Toronto musicians including BadBadNotGood, River Tiber, and Charlotte Day Wilson. Kingsway loops have appeared on records by Drake ("0 to 100"), Kanye West ("Real Friends"), Taylor Swift, Travis Scott, and Eminem. He executive produced Camila Cabello's Camila (including "Havana," the most-streamed song by a female artist at the time), The Weeknd's My Dear Melancholy EP, and contributed to Lorde's Melodrama and Post Malone's "Congratulations" and "Circles."
Feeney has earned 3 Grammy wins, 29 Grammy nominations, 11 ASCAP Awards, and 16 BMI Awards across a career spanning 300+ credits. He retired the Frank Dukes name in 2021 and now records as Ging. His production style emphasizes live instrumentation, analog equipment, and what SPIN called "shimmering pop nostalgia." Ryan Tedder noted that Feeney "likes weird chord progressions" and avoids anything sounding "clean or normal."
Signature Sound
Frank Dukes builds warm, analog-driven compositions using live instrumentation from a network of Toronto session musicians. His loops feel like vintage soul and jazz records but are entirely original, defined by unusual chord progressions, effects-heavy processing, and a layered texture that splits the difference between hip-hop grit and pop sophistication.
